Divorce proceedings

If you are in a marital union and, due to differences in temperament and character, ongoing disagreements between spouses have made cohabitation unbearable and the marital relationship has been permanently and severely disrupted, contact an attorney to initiate divorce proceedings.

Divorce proceedings are initiated by filing a lawsuit or a joint petition for an uncontested divorce submitted by both spouses (in which case they may be represented by a single attorney). The competent court dissolves the marriage by issuing a judgment. The divorce procedure differs depending on whether the spouses have no children or have minor children. To protect the rights and interests of the children—primarily—and of the parent to whom the children are entrusted for care and custody, it is advisable to consult an attorney.
